Chapter 147 - Shadow In The Moon
Even \'Residents\' had always wondered why the monsters close to the spawn point were weak. But they couldn\'t help but leave out a sigh of relief for it.
It was how a [Level 1] player is only subjected to weak monsters at the start of the game. So that he could grow in strength and fight the stronger monsters.
But why did Satan do something like this? That was probably a mystery. But there would probably not be much point in killing off people when he was going to such lengths to summon them.
This grinding process was what came to be known as a \'newbie drill\'. Later on \'Residents\' came along and helped the newbies to reduce the mortality rate.
While at the surface it just seemed like the experienced giving out a helping hand to the uninitiated. But they had ulterior motives for the same.
"With that, I will leave all of you for today. But tomorrow everyone must be down on their feet by 6 a.m. Any form of excuses won\'t be accepted and a fine would be deducted from your acquired gold as mentioned before."
Saying so Gozoto left the premises. The guards directed the newbies to their dorms on the first floor. Everyone was to look for the room number that was on their parchment.
"Let\'s see Hundred and forty five. It should be somewhere around here," Klautz whispered.
Finally finding the room he twisted the yellowish door now and entered. It was a dark room with two beds and two desks for the newbies to help themselves. Every dorm was meant for two people of the same gender to share but Klautz roommate had yet to find his room.
Klautz hopped onto his bed and closed his eyes. After days of being stuck in the tutorial zone, he could have some sleep to himself.
But alas fate was playing a different game with him today. His roommate was supposed to come but he never came. The room had a deathly silence as Klautz lay there all alone.
*Woot* *Woot*
The sound of the nocturnal birds was the only sound that entered his ears as the moon shone brightly on the world of Hell. Indeed, the sounds of the footsteps that were approaching Klautz were non-existent. She walked like a cat bending her flexible body whenever needed. Indeed she had no intention to wake up Klautz.
It was already far past midnight.
*Woot* *Woot*
The unknown person pulled down the blanket that Klautz had wrapped around himself. Klautz defenceless body coming in plain sight. She extended her hands as she began to unbutton Klautz pants.
It was then…
Klautz eyes shot out wide. From the beginning he was in a transient state between sleep and awake thanks to his training.
He grabbed the woman\'s hands with his own. The woman was caught red handed.
Klautz could discern her face in the moonlight alone as his brain was quick to adapt to his situation thanks to his training. But alas she had her face properly covered!
But alas the woman was faster than Klautz! The reason she was even caught was because Klautz suddenly awakening from his sleep was out of her expectations! she had been caught off guard. Before Klautz could do anything the woman stabbed his dagger into Klautz hands.
The jab packed quite the force causing blood to spill!
Klautz didn\'t let out even so as a grunt of pain. But the reality was far from it. His hand loosened for a second and that was when the woman freed herself and jumped off the window.
\'Who was it?\'
Klautz ran towards the window and looked around left and right but there was no one. The unknown attacker had escaped and disappeared like she was never there.
Klautz gritted his teeth as he wrung out his injured hand. He took out the [Amethyst Stone] and used its powers to heal himself.
Klautz gritted his teeth all the more.
\'Who was it? Who would target me? Why would someone do?\'
Indeed Klautz had killed many on the tutorial zone but all of them were newbies and weaker than Klautz. The one who attacked Klautz was surely a resident.
But Klautz had no idea why. He had just come to hell and was yet to make enemies.
Klautz was only able to come out unscathed since he had a habit to be on his guard at all times thanks to his training. Through years of sleeping in the weirdest of places, he rather prefers to meditate rather than to sleep.
In this way, he can be on alert and meet his need for sleep all at the same time. Among the newbies only Klautz can pull this off. Otherwise, if it was anyone else that person would have been done for now.
"Black hair tied to a ponytail and black eyes. A rather muscular build of hands. Good enough strength and reflexes. Didn\'t seem like a trained one though." Klautz was lost in his soliloquy as he remembered the attackers features properly. He can\'t let this matter slide so easily.
Klautz walked in his room in circles thinking hard. The people he had met since he came… the things he had done… everything but he couldn\'t put anything together. From the start his presence was minimal.
Klautz walked towards the window as he stared through the window. The moonlight basked the purple land with thorn like leafless trees with its shine. Yet there was no sign of life.
"My roommate is missing too," Klautz thought. "I wonder what had happened to him or if he existed in the first place.
That night Klautz was wide awake. Normally he sleeps in a transient state that lies in between complete sleep and awake but not that night. The event had caught him off guard making him lost deep in thought.
