Commanding Wind and Cloud

Chapter 157: Im Just A Bystander

The general looked Qian Jin up and down in surprise. Under the crushing attack of his knees, a war horse would foam at its mouth and faint. Even if he had used only some of his might just now, how could this guy behave as if nothing had happened to him? Didn’t this guy have pain nerves?

With the supreme defensive force of the wind and cloud golden body, Qian Jin didn’t feel much pain. He looked at General Bronze Armor with a calm look, and said softly, "My fellow, namely, my comrade-in-war, was beaten by someone, and my teacher, namely my officer, was also insulted by others. If you were me, how would you deal with it?"

The general felt slightly shocked, touched his beard, and softly nodded his head. "If I were you, I would do the same thing. Even if it might be a breach of the military provisions, I would still slap the enemies first!"

The general smiled and then pointed to the general’s badge on his armor. "But I am not you! I am the general in charge of the Reventment Battlefield! If you were me, how would you cope with this situation?"

Qian Jin smiled. "Do as per the military provisions."

It was a matter of stance. Having nothing to do with being right or wrong!

"Great!" The general uttered in a rough and robust voice, forming his chest. "Now, you have breached my military provisions, so I will punish you! You will be sent into confinement for ten days!"

Ten days? Aliku propped up, from the ground, with one arm, kneeling down, and watching the general. Only a ten-day confinement after Qian Jin had done such grave damage? If he was the general, he would hang him, whip him, and allocate him to the dare-to-die corps! But now, he was just sentenced to a ten-day confinement?

"Okay." Qian Jin nodded his head. He had already taken into account that he would be punished for his behavior, yet such a punishment was a little better than what he had expected.

The general looked to the veterans and pointed out to the other apprentices of Oakland Academy. "Have they taken part in the fist fight?"

"No!" The veterans roared loud together. They felt cheerfully relaxed by what Qian Jin had done just now, and thus they were on his side at this moment.

"We..."

Qian Jin raised his hand at the Oakland warriors who were about to stand out and say something. "Alright. They are here to observe the battlefield, not compete for confinement. Take good care of Durk and yourselves. It’ll be good for me to rest for ten days."

"Duren Burg!" The general stepped forward quickly, seized the back collar of Duren Burg and asked, "Where are you going?"

"Me?" Duren Burg’s eyes twinkled brighter than the stars and he was wearing a face reading blankness and puzzlement. "My general, I am just a passer-by. My teacher asked me to see whether there was soy sauce on sale outside. I’m just a soy-sauce-buyer."

"Really?" The general turned from Duren Burg, and looked at the veterans, "Has he taken part in the fist fight just now?"

"He has, he has!"

"Thirty percent of the injured were beaten by him."

"You are wrong! I bet it was forty percent!"

The veterans were in a fierce dispute, which astonished Qian Jin a lot. Their voices were full of care for Duren Burg, but why did they push him into the confinement?

"Oh, my dear uncles..." Duren Burg wore a crying face. "Do we have a feud? You can’t frame me like this. I have beaten at most twenty percent of these injured people. This guy was really aggressive, and I daren’t scramble with him as a guest."

"Of course we have a feud. You took my entire month’s salary by cheating yesterday!"

"And mine!"

"Mine, mine! And mine!"

Amongst the complaints, the General sentenced Duren Burg to the same ten days’ confinement. Guided by the soldiers, the two were taken to a stone room. It was spacious enough, but there was no sunlight.

"Okay. You’ll stay here for ten days." The soldier opened the door, and Qian Jin walked in without saying anything.

"Uncle, what about letting me go secretly? It must be very boring to stay here for ten days, what about..."

"Come in~ you!"

"Ouch~ you kicked my buttocks again."

Qian Jin sat down in the room and found that there was, in fact, split into two rooms separated by a row of steel fences. Thus, the two were close together respectively.

"General Wind..." Aliku, head tied by a bandage, leaned on the tent gate of the general feebly. "Isn’t your punishment today too partial? Look at your students and mine..."

General Wind, sitting straight behind a short table and reading had already taken off his armor to expose his disheveled red hair, which, combined with the thick beard on his chin, gave people a feeling that he was irrational.

"Partial?" General Wind placed the book aside and walked toward Aliku. The armor over his body clashed together, like the sound of metal dinging in the battlefield. He bent over towards Aliku and said into his ears, "It was partial, but do you know why? Long, long ago, I was also from a bad warrior academy. Watching my teacher being controlled by others, I was not capable or courageous enough to stand out for him, which has tormented me till this day. Every night when I close my eyes, I would have such scenes flash before me."

A droning sound rang in Aliku’s head. Then shortly, cold air penetrated his limbs, making him stand motionlessly like a log, looking at General Wind blankly.

It was not a rare thing for the inferior academies to be insulted by superior ones. Especially in the Zence Empire, in the demon species, and in the barbarians.

Although not all superior academies would banter the inferior ones, some academies inherited this tradition. Every year in the general exam, one or two academies would play such a trick.

"Ok, you can leave away." General Wind tossed his war robe, marched to his general seat and said in a cold voice, "I have some military affairs to deal with, so you can go mind your own business."

Aliku closed his eyes in despair, turned away, and left the general’s camp with a loathing face. "This situation will not simply end this way! You want to let it go? All right, I will go to Fanta Kunge! As long as I instigate him slightly..."

Confinement rooms were always dark, humid, and devastatingly silent.

And the Reventment camp’s was nothing special. It was also dark, humid, and silent.

Qian Jin leaned on the wall, trying to enjoy the silence. However, Duren Burg, living across from him, was not accustomed to this dull ambiance.

"Hey, you, who came from Oakland." Duren Burge sat on the steel fence and looked at Qian Jin under the dim sunlight. "Thank you."

Thanks? Qian Jin felt slightly shocked, as saying thanks was a little strange. Had he done any favors for him?

"In fact, the minute I saw them, I wanted to give them a lesson." Duren Burg shrugged his shoulder while sighing, and continued to move his head. "Oyedeji Mage and Warrior Academy will trigger drama every year in the general exam, and a lot of Academies have suffered from it. However, I hadn’t found an excuse to beat them up until you provided me with one today."

Qian Jin felt speechless. Qian Jin was puzzled about this person’s engagement in the fist fight. Though now, from his explanation, Qian Jin understood that he had been wanting to start a fight.

"Pitifully~~" Duren Burg uttered another sigh. "It was not enough, not at all! Most of the people were beaten by you."

Qian Jin changed into a different position, and said to himself, if Oyedeji’s apprentices heard what Duren Burg had said about the beating being not enough, I wonder how they would react?

"Hey, guy." Duren Burg moved his backside, trying to get closer to Qian Jin. He behaved as talkative as he could, and kept moving his right forefinger. "Do you have a cigarette? I see you’re wearing fine textiles, so do you have a cigarette?"

Qian Jin looked at Duren Burg in surprise and felt for his coat unconsciously. Rosella asked for someone to tailor this coat. It was beyond Qian Jin’s perception that this guy had an acute pair of eyes.

Dwelling on it for a little while, Qian Jin poked his hand into the warrior dimension and took out a pack of cigarettes. After all, this person was of help to some extent in the fight...

Peeling off the seal of the packet, Qian Jin took out one cigarette and threw it at the steel fences.

Duren Burg lifted his wrist, pinched the cigarette between his forefinger and middle finger, and put it between his lips. After a deep inhale and a careful sniff, Duren Burg put on a face of indulgement. With starry eyes glistening with light, he said "High quality! It’s really a luxury! I didn’t bet on you to have such a good thing."

The cigarette moved from his fingers onto his ear, and the empty hand pointed at Qian Jin. "Buddy, give me another, another."

Qian Jin threw out another two, and they were easily caught by Duren Burg. After smelling them and putting them between his lips, those two cigarettes were placed behind his ears again. His black onyx eyes, dancing full of light in the darkness, were fixed on Qian Jin, and his thin lips were blossoming into a pretty smile. "Judging from the way you take out cigarettes, you don’t smoke, do you? Then for what are you holding those cigarettes! Maybe you can..."

Duren Burg kept rubbing his hands, and the dark black starry eyes twinkled intermittently. "Give me several more cigarettes?"

Several more cigarettes? Qian Jin finally turned his eyes towards Duren Burg, just to find that his smile looked somewhat familiar. This shameless smile looked so similar to someone, so alike!

"Butterball..." Qian Jin slipped this name out unconsciously. Duren Burg was much more handsome than Rollin, and had a tall and straight figure, making his exterior totally different from Rollin. But the shameless look was identical to Rollin’s.

"Butterball?"

Duren Burg lowered his head and looked at his figure with a puzzled expression. He didn’t find any traces of being a butterball.

"All right!" Duren Burg lifted his head and looked at Qian Jin seriously. "Will you give me cigarettes if I change into a butterball? If so... all right! I’m already a butterball now..."

Alike! So alike! Qian Jin blinked his eyes fiercely. The shamelessness of this handsome warrior was so similar to Rollin, who would climb up a pole for him.

Looking at the familiar expression, Qian Jin uttered a sigh. Then, he flicked the cigarette packet with his fingertips, letting it fly through the steel fence and fall into Duren Burg’s hand.
