Shinobi From Hell

Chapter 169 - Cutting Loses

As the battle progressed Klautz was getting more and more exhausted. His stamina wasn\'t enough to hold out.

He could gulp down a stamina potion to get out of this situation. He had still 3 of them left in his inventory. But he chose otherwise.

\'No there is no point. This is a losing battle. I should cut down my losses,\' Klautz thought.

Sooner or later, Maebi was going to overpower him. So the best course of action would be giving in before Maebi could figure something out about him.

What\'s more? Maebi should have no idea that Klautz holds Stamina potions. One cannot simply \'peek\' in another\'s inventory.

Klautz\'s spirit sword wriggled as it retraced back to his inventory. Klautz raised his arms high in the air, giving in.

"I give up on clearing this trial. Please spare my life. I can\'t win against you," Klautz had to go through the formalities.

No way in hell Klautz could ever let anyone kill him nor did Maebi had the option to kill him as well. Yes, he was making an assumption... he was taking a risk, but it was a calculated risk.

Maebi closed in by placing her sword at Klautz\'s neck. Klautz lifted his chin high up as he felt the coldness of the metal of her blade. Klautz hadn\'t allowed this blade to touch him even once throughout the fight. That was also the reason why Klautz got so exhausted.

"How do you plan to serve the village with such measy strength"

Klautz knitted his brows.

"Give me a year and I will prove myself. That day you won\'t regret having me," Klautz challenged her.

After all, didn\'t Maebi spend a year training in hell before coming here to fight Klautz? All Klautz needed was but a year to shut her mouth.

"Tsk," Maebi clicked his tongue.

She retraced back her sword as she sighed. She had completed her mission but she hadn\'t got any information which Akhiko seeked. And there was nothing she could do about it.

Even at the edge of the blade Klautz broke no sweat. There was no fear in his eyes. What kind of anomaly was that? What could she expect from him? She saw it in his eyes. He fears no death.

Maebi turned around as she bit her lips. Akihiko had told her to fight him till he gave up. But was that truly the purpose of this mission? She was supposed to impose fear in Klautz\'s heart… the fear of death. Yet she had miserably failed.

Little did she know that Klautz already knew it all. There was no way he could die here no matter what.

Basked in a viridescent hue she disappeared while carrying her droopy shoulders.

"Phew! So, I was right," Klautz breathed a sigh of relief.

No matter how sure he was of his deductions, some things can always go unexpectedly. He could not rule out the fact that he was making a lot of assumptions here.

For sure ninjas don\'t kill for personal reasons. But did the same rule apply for Maebi? She wasn\'t a ninja yet. She was a trainee and the rogue ninja rule didn\'t apply to her.

Even if she had killed Klautz here, she didn\'t need to fear death. She was a rising talent. Of course the village would pass the death of a newbie to blind ears for her.

But thankfully things had turned out well for Klautz. Akihiko had trained Maebi well.

*slash*

Klautz killed the last tied up Gnoll ending its life. The poor Gnoll couldn\'t even defend itself thanks to its bad luck… or maybe good luck?

[Congratulations!]

Klautz sighed.

"As I expected nothing much I could get out of this. But in exchange for the time invested, not too bad."

The item Klautz had got was an assasination dagger that can ignore certain levels of defenses but it wasn\'t the best of the lot.

In the past the dagger Klautz used to wield could ignore 100 levels of Defences. It was something that he got KIshiogakure once he had become an \'A\' rank ninja. It might seem like an exceptional weapon but these always have a downside.

"They only work on humans"

That is why the Trial sites monopolized by ninjas must never go into the wrong hands. They would drive the whole of humanity to extinction. Humans are the only ones with stats to their names and thus the only ones these weapons work on.

The ninjas have used them for years to kill and assassinate. A good one of these allows the user to assassinate even enemies stronger than themselves! Klautz too had killed many in this way including Armand.

Since they allowed the ninjas to ignore the laws of this world. They formed the foundation of the ninjas in Hell. Without them assassinating strong targets would have been impossible!

\'Our blades would have never pierced their skins.\'

But in this life he doesn\'t need to work as a ninja.

"But keeping them would only aid in my survival," Klautz whispered as he frowned. Veins popped up on his forehead, "But that damn Akihiko won\'t let me have a stronger one!"

[Would like to exit the Trial Site? (Y/N)]

"Yes," Klautz screamed in annoyance.

A rather dull viridescent light wrapped around him as it swallowed his whole body making him disappear.

The sudden flash of the sun\'s rays blinded Klautz\'s eyes. His eyes needed to some to adjust to the sudden change.

But alas….

*Bam*

*Cough*

Klautz felt a strong hit on the back of his head knocking him unconscious.
