Chapter 291 - Ending 18: Qi Chengzhi, Can you share your thoughts of becoming the first father in our group? No sordid details
Qi Chengzhi could not help himself but laugh. She made it sound like she was constipated, and she had just pooped.
Qi Chengzhi walked beside her stretcher bed. One of his elegant hands found its way to Song Yu’s while the other caressed her forehead. His exhaustion was evident in his voice as he said, “I really don’t want to go through this again.”
“They say that the second pregnancy would be much easier,” Song Yu stated with a smile, “I felt as if I had gone through a battle. After giving birth to a child, I feel like there’s nothing that I can’t do.”
Qi Chengzhi looked at her tenderly. His soft gaze made Song Yu a little bashful. Song Yu did not know if the nurses noticed it, but Qi Chengzhi’s sudden declaration made her feel a bit embarrassed.
The nurses took their leave once they moved Song Yu onto the hospital bed. The rest of the family was at the nursery to see little Qi Youjin, so Song Yu and Qi Chengzhi were left alone in the room.
Qi Chengzhi sat by the bed. His long, bony fingers caressed her pale face gently. He tucked her hair behind her ears to reveal her plain yet beautiful face. He leaned in and kissed her lips. “You’ve worked hard.” Song Yu shook her head. She moved her cheek into Qi Chengzhi’s palm and cupped her hand on the back of his. She felt little jolts of electricity as the coarse texture of his palm pressed against her cheek. The warmth that she felt gave her a sense of security.
While she was in the delivery room, she had screamed Qi Chengzhi’s name every time she felt as if she wanted to give up. It was as if that would give her the strength she needed to push through.
“It wasn’t hard work at all. Right now, I feel so blessed,” Song Yu whispered, “When can they bring Youjin here?”
“They’ll send him here after an hour. Both Mom and Dad are there looking after him, so don’t worry,” Qi Chengzhi assured her.
However, in only about half an hour later, the nurse brought little Qi Youjin into the room. Grandfather Qi, Grandmother Qi, and the rest of the family followed suit. They all huddled around Little Youjin.
The nurse handed baby Qi Youjin to Song Yu. The nurse asked about her condition, taught her to breastfeed the baby, and told her about the things that she should pay attention to.
Once they decided that Song Yu was well, the others left the room to let Song Yu feed her child. Fortunately, Song Yu did not have any problems with breastfeeding her baby, and everything went smoothly.
Qi Chengzhi stared at Song Yu, who had one of her breasts out for the baby to suckle on. He squinted his eyes as if he wanted to measure something. “Why do I feel like they’re bigger than they were when you were pregnant.”
A red tint spread across Song Yu’s face. She was a little uncomfortable with Qi Chengzhi’s gaze. “When they are engorged, they’ll become even bigger. Stop staring.”
Qi Chengzhi grinned, but he did not turn away. Instead, he stared at her with bright eyes. Song Yu could not tell what was in his thoughts, but his pupils became deeper and darker.
Song Yu’s body trembled for no apparent reason. She wanted to turn away, but Qi Chengzhi leaned in abruptly and sandwiched Qi Youjin between them. Qi Chengzhi whispered something into Song Yu’s ears.
“...” Song Yu’s face flushed red. “Qi Chengzhi, why can’t you think of something more serious!”
Qi Chengzhi stared at her through his deep, dark eyes. “How is that not serious? Do you promise, or not?”
“...” Baby Qi Youxuan had finished suckling. Song Yu let Qi Chengzhi carried him as she did her buttons. “I’m done feeding him. Go ask Grandma and the rest to come in. Don’t let them wait outside for too long.”
Nonetheless, Qi Chengzhi did not budge. He fixed his eyes on her, and it made Song Yu feel immensely pressured.
“Be serious,” Song Yu commanded under her breath. Song Yu could not endure Qi Chengzhi’s stare any longer. Her ears were burning.
Song Yu remembered that she had always loved that exact gaze of his, even right from the start of their relationship. He had used that gaze to lead her by the nose from the very first day that he waited for her in front of her house
Fortunately, Qi Chengzhi did not persist at that time. He must have had other tactics to use against Song Yu. He pecked her nose then proceeded to invite Grandfather Qi and the rest of the family back in the room.
It was already two-thirty in the morning, but due to all the excitement, no one was sleepy. Grandmother Qi held Qi Youjin in her arms lovingly.
“The name ‘Youjin’ had been decided long ago. What about his courtesy name? Have you decided?” Grandfather Qi inquired. He wanted to record Qi Youjin’s name and courtesy name in the family tree.
“His courtesy name would be Jiang Qian,” Qi Chengzhi replied.
“Modest and respectful 1. Good, good.” Grandfather Qi nodded contently.
Grandmother Qi had not hold Qi Youjin for long before Grandfather Qi was restless again, so he took Little Youjin from her hands. Not long after that, the baby was snatched away again by Qi Zhongliang. Little Youjin was passed around the room. Once everyone else had their chance at holding the baby, they handed him to Qi Chengyue.
Qi Chengyue had never held a baby before, so she was extremely anxious. She held the child with extreme care as she was afraid that she might break him. The tiny human looked so fragile that one had to handle with care.
Under the guidance of Guan Liya, Qi Chengyue slowly got the hang of it. Then, she went and sat by the bed to be with Song Yu.
“Chengyue, don’t just hold Little Song’s baby. Hurry up and have a child of your own.” Grandmother Qi craned forward to look at Little Youjin. She already loved him dearly. “Your Grandma and Grandpa must be anxious. Dongge isn’t young anymore after all.”
“...” Cheng Dongge was at a loss for words. He thought, ‘I’m much younger than Qi Chengzhi and Qi Chenglin.’
Qi Chengyue returned Little Youjin to Song Yu, and asked, “How bad is the pain? You know, when you were giving birth.”
Song Yu held Little Youjin in her arms and looked at him with a warm-filled gaze. “The truth is, no matter which mother you ask, she will definitely tell you that labor hurts. However, when you are pregnant, you will realize that those words no longer scare you. It indeed hurts to give birth, but you stop caring about the pain once you realize that it’s for the one you love and the one who loves you. Plus, you are bringing a new life into the world. Somehow, I found courage and perseverance, and they gave me the strength to give birth to this child, and I can’t even begin to describe the joy and satisfaction this experience has brought me. It will hurt, but it will not be as scary as you thought it would be.”
...
...
Once Song Yu had recovered, they transferred her to the confinement center behind Chutian hospital. At that point, all that baby Qi Youjin did was sleep, and he slept all day long.
Grandmother Qi, and the rest of them decided to return to their homes to rest. Qi Chengzhi stayed behind to accompany Song Yu.
After all that, Song Yu was tired. She only fell asleep at around six in the morning. When it was afternoon, Qi Chengzhi woke her up when they delivered her confinement meal. As she opened her eyes, the first thing she did was to look at Little Youjin. She noticed that he was asleep. His tiny hands looked as if they struggled to reach out from the blanket that they wrapped him in. Qi Chengzhi moved him a little and then wrapped the blanket around him properly.
While Song Yu drank her soup, Qi Chengzhi’s gaze was entirely focused on his son. He noticed that the little boy looked much better compared to when he was just born.
Suddenly, the baby’s eyelids started to move as if he was waking up. Qi Chengzhi stared at him excitedly, and he refused to look away for even a second. He was afraid to miss the moment his son opened his eyes for the first time.
He quickly called out to Song Yu, “Hurry up and look. I think he’s going to open his eyes.” Some children could open their eyes very early, while others did that much later. Some babies even opened their eyes on the day that they were born. They did not expect that their child would be so bright.
Song Yu put her soup down hastily and watched the baby with Qi Chengzhi. Slowly, her son finally opened his eyes and revealed his pitch-black pupils. The black and white of his eyes were distinct, and it made him look beautiful. Those beautiful, bright eyes completely resembled Song Yu’s, and he clearly inherited the deep-set position of his eyes from Qi Chengzhi.
“Youjin. Youjin.” Song Yu’s heart moved when she looked at her little boy. Her eyes dampened. She could feel a burst of joy and gratitude whenever she called out his name.
Qi Chengzhi suddenly remembered something. He quickly retrieved his phone and took a picture of the two of them to send out the joyous news to his friends.
It was a chaotic moment when Little Youjin was born. That was why he forgot to inform his friends that Song Yu had safely given birth.
He squeezed onto the bed with Song Yu, with Little Youjin in the middle. As Song Yu drank her soup, he wrapped one arm around her waist while the other held his phone. He tapped into the 8×8=64 group chat.
After he posted the picture on WeChat Moments, he sent it to the group. [25th January is the full moon party, remember to bring red packets.]
Everyone: [...]
Han Zhuoli: [Qi Chengzhi, can you share your thoughts of becoming the first father in our group? No sordid details.]
Yan Beicheng: [You sent the photo just to ask for red packets?]
Gui Zhiqian: [He was born on Christmas day. Your son sure knows how to pick a date.]
Song Yu smiled at the lively discussion in the group, and said, “Didn’t you say that it would be great if we could celebrate Christmas as a family of three? Now look, Youjin really did arrive on Christmas day.”
Song Yu’s words reminded Qi Chengzhi of something.
He called Chang Lai immediately and instructed him to buy a mini Christmas tree and bring it with him when he went to the hospital to pick up Qi Chengzhi for work.
Even though there were many people to care for Song Yu in the confinement center, it did little to alleviate Qi Chengzhi’s worry. He only returned to the company after he spent the first few days at the confinement center with Song Yu. After that, Yu Qingying was there to accompany Song Yu.
When Chang Lai arrived in the evening, he brought with him a Christmas tree that was half his height, and he positioned it at the corner of the room. The whole place looked so much brighter with just a small embellishment.
Even Little Youjin was no longer asleep. His eyes were wide opened as if the Christmas tree piqued his curiosity. Qi Chengzhi picked him up and brought him to the Christmas tree. The baby reached out his arms as if he wanted to grab the Christmas tree.
Qi Chengzhi turned on the Christmas lights that hung around the tree, and the baby stared at them in amazement. He still did not know how to smile, but as his large eyes blinked, they could tell he was exuberant.
When she saw Qi Chengzhi’s attitude, Song Yu thought that he did not intend to do any of his work there.
After Qi Chengzhi played with Little Youjin for a little while, the baby finally shut his eyes and went back to sleep. Only then did he lay the baby down next to Song Yu. He sat next to Little Youjin and started to do his work. He would frequently turn to look at Song Yu and Little Youxuan. It was evident that he was somewhat distracted.
“It’s snowing,” Song Yu exclaimed as she looked out the window.
Outside the window, snowflakes as large as goose feathers fluttered down, and it made a picturesque scene. However, Little Youjin was still asleep, so the duo did not wake him up.
At night, just as Song Yu and Qi Chengzhi had their dinner, Yan Beicheng and the rest of the group dropped by for a visit.
The men brought in the chilly air from the outside. They brushed away the snow on their coats and then tossed them onto the sofa.
Qi Chengzhi raised his eyebrows. “Here to see your godson?”
“That’s right,” Yan Beicheng replied as he walked toward them.
“Did you bring gifts?” Qi Chengzhi narrowed his eyes when he saw that they came empty-handed.
“It’s snowing outside, so it’s not easy to drive. Besides, it’s Christmas, and the traffic was horrible. Where can we buy gifts at a time like this?” Han Zhuoli pulled off his leather gloves and tossed them on the sofa too. “Who knew that your son could pick a date so well.”
Gui Zhiqian was already craning his neck to look at Little Youjin, who laid between Qi Chengzhi and Song Yu. “Hurry up and bring the child here for us to see.”
All of them were unmarried men. If they were to see a baby, it would be an extraordinary event. Those grown men even had stars in their eyes. They were exhilarated and impatient, just like how little boys were when they get a new toy.
“He’s sleeping. Keep it down,” Qi Chengzhi commanded coolly.
Just as he said those words, Little Youjin woke up. His refined eyes opened wide. He blinked twice and then abruptly burst into tears.
Qi Chengzhi felt for his diaper, but it was dry. “He must be hungry.”
Song Yu picked up her son as Qi Chengzhi shooed the others out.
“Don’t push me. Hey, stop pushing! This guy...” Han Zhuoli and the others were speechless as Qi Chengzhi shoved them out of the door.
Without a word, Qi Chengzhi shut the door instantly. When he turned back, he saw the little baby as he enjoyed his milk.
Song Yu smiled. She looked up and gazed at Qi Chengzhi with warmth in her eyes. “He is starving.”
Qi Chengzhi walked toward her. When he saw Little Youjin’s tiny hands on Song Yu’s soft and fair breast, warmth began to fill his heart, and his pupils dilated.
Song Yu staggered. Her lips suddenly felt dry. Under his alluring gaze, her breathing labored. She looked down as if she was too shy to look at Qi Chengzhi. However, her breathing sped up, and the action of her chest and it moved up and down aroused Qi Chengzhi.
Even though she had her head down, she could still feel Qi Chengzhi as he leaned closer. His hot breath blew across her forehead and heated her scalp. Her forehead felt numb as if it was injected with an anesthetic drug. The numbness slowly inched downward.
Suddenly, she saw Qi Chengzhi bowed his head even lower. His charming side-profile moved past her eyes and continued to go lower and lower. He pressed his lips on her soft breasts and sucked it.
Song Yu felt her face reddened. The heat spread throughout her body. The spot he kissed was hot and itchy.
She breathed heavily and whispered, “Chengzhi...”
Qi Chengzhi looked up. His lips curled up into a smirk. He leaned closer to her ear and rubbed his warm thin lips against her ear. “What if I take one side while our son takes the other?”
“Stop playing around...” Song Yu mumbled softly.
When Qi Youjin was done, Song Yu quickly pushed him toward Qi Chengzhi while she buttoned up her clothes hastily. “Hurry up and call Yan Beicheng and the rest of them in. They’re all still waiting outside.”
Qi Chengzhi smiled as he glanced at her. “You won’t be able to run from this later tonight.”
Then, he got up to open the door and left Song Yu thoroughly flushed.
He called for Yan Beicheng and the rest to come back in. Han Zhuoli instantly noticed Song Yu’s flushed face. He clicked his tongue, and asked, “Little Sis Xiao Yu, what happened to you? Did Qi Chengzhi took the chance while we were gone and went rogue on you?”
“She’s my wife now, so how can it be called ‘going rogue’?” Qi Chengzhi scoffed.
At that moment, Little Youjin woke up again. They took the opportunity to pass Little Youjin around for each of them to hold. He was like a rare treasure to them. The men did not care about Qi Chengzhi and Song Yu. They huddled together and coaxed Little Youjin into playing with them. In the end, they managed to agitate the baby, and he opened his mouth and wailed.
None of them knew how to deal with a crying child, so Yan Beicheng immediately handed Little Youjin back to Qi Chengzhi. Song Yu took him from Qi Chengzhi, and after a long time, she finally managed to coax the baby back to sleep.
The men could no longer play with the baby, and they were afraid to wake him up again. So, they excused themselves and left.
...
...
When it was night time, they carried Little Youjin and put him in the baby bed that was right next to the big bed. Qi Chengzhi and Song Yu slept on the big bed. Just as they drifted to sleep, Little Youjin abruptly started to cry, and Song Yu woke up in a panic.
Just as she wanted to check on him, Qi Chengzhi woke up as well. He stopped her and said, “I’ll go. You can go back to sleep.”
Qi Chengzhi was already off the bed. He went around and picked up his son. He checked his diaper and said, “He peed. I’ll go change his diaper.”
Song Yu did not lay back down. She reached out her arms as if to take the child from him. “I’ll do it. You should go back to sleep. You haven’t slept since yesterday night, and you were up all-day taking care of Youjin and me.”
Qi Chengzhi shot a glance at her. “Don’t argue with me. Go back to sleep.”
He ignored her and proceeded to bring Youjin into the washroom. He was afraid that the baby’s constant crying would disturb Song Yu.
Song Yu laid back down onto the bed. She smiled faintly as she looked through the washroom’s frosted glass door. Warmth filled her heart as she stared at the dim light emitted from the washroom.
She wrapped herself in the blanket. Even though she thought that she would not go back to sleep, her eyelids slowly grew heavier.
When Qi Chengzhi came out with Little Youjin in his arms, Song Yu had already fallen asleep.
Qi Chengzhi smiled tenderly. He looked down to see Little Youjin, who cries had turned into mere whimpers. Qi Chengzhi placed his finger on his lips and told Little Youjin to quiet down. He brought the baby back into the washroom and coaxed him to sleep. Only when he was utterly silent did Qi Chengzhi put him back on the baby bed. He climbed onto the bed and went back to sleep with Song Yu.
In the night, Little Youjin cried again and again. Each time, Qi Chengzhi woke up and coaxed him back to sleep without any complaints. He never let Song Yu moved a muscle.
The last time he coaxed Little Youjin back to sleep, the sky outside had begun to brighten. Qi Chengzhi was exhausted, so he laid back on the bed. He had woken up several times during the night, and his spot on the bed did not even get a chance to get warmed.
When Song Yu felt him as he climbed back into bed, she leaned into his arms. Even though her son’s cries had also woken her up, she did not even have to open her eyes as Qi Chengzhi had dealt with him every single time. Thus, she drifted back to sleep almost immediately, and that was why she was quite well-rested that morning.
“Honey,” Song Yu called tenderly. She was still half-asleep and in a daze. She inched closer into Qi Chengzhi’s embrace and wrapped her arms around his waist as she pressed her face on his chest, “Thank you.”
Qi Chengzhi looked down and saw that Song Yu still had her eyes shut as if she still could not wake up. He smiled.
Then he kissed her forehead and whispered, “It’s part of my duty.”
...
...
It had been half a month since Song Yu gave birth to Little Youjin. Mu Sisi had heard the news from Mu Huaisheng. Her brother had been to the confinement center to see Song Yu and the baby. He also said that the child looked so much like Song Yu and Qi Chengzhi as if he inherited all of their best features.
During a meeting, Mu Sisi kept thinking about that, and she was quite distracted by it. Suddenly, the phone in her pocket vibrated.
She had received an SMS, but there was no number displayed for it. It merely indicated ‘No Caller ID.’ 1
