Spending My Retirement In A Game

Chapter 600 Life Giver

Either way, he still had to just lay down somewhere for now so that he could properly recover, and the best place for that was indubitably the capsule. And so, the old man logged back into the game.

---

Eisen slowly pushed himself off the ground that he had been sitting and sleeping on, and then stood up to stretch out properly. It was still pretty early in the day, and most of the others were still dead-asleep, so Eisen could just take his time to try and think about what exactly happened just now.

He wasn’t entirely sure why, and most importantly how, these switches between himself and the former Eisen happened, but whenever they did, they were so extreme that it really was like ’Benjamin’ wasn’t in control anymore, but someone else had taken over his body and doing all those things.

It mostly happened whenever Eisen was getting riled up, but sometimes it seemed like Eisen was appearing too conveniently. Like he was never really fully gone, and was simply taking a bit of a break except during times that he needed to come out. And he wasn’t necessarily that good to his own body either, which was evident with what just happened in the other world.

He really had to properly apologize to Komer in a bit. The old man directly accessed something that Komer shouldnt have access to in the other world... That might have been a mistake, and might have brought a few things out of balance.

But the good thing was that they didn’t need to worry about themselves in the other world anymore.

"Isn’t that right, little enforcer?" The old man muttered as he activated his Truth-Seeing-Eyes, in particular his truth-sight ability, and stared down at his shadow. Inside of that shadow was the vague face of an enforcer, that would from now on follow Eisen around constantly, whether in this or the other world. Luckily, though, there was no way for even Samuel to get rid of this. After all, it was-

"Oi, you old fuck, the hell’s going on with you? Why’re you brooding like that all of a sudden?" Hephaestus asked with a deep grumble as he stepped up in front of Eisen, and the old man turned his head and slowly looked at the ego-item.

He raised his brows a bit as he looked back at him, "Ah, sorry, I was just kind of thinking about something. Is something the issue?"

"That’s what I just asked. It’s gonna be troublesome if you just end up being like this all day, you know? So get your shit together and don’t worry about whatever crap you’re thinking about." The ego-tool pointed out, annoyedly turning back around to make his way toward the area where a few different materials were laid out that he and Eisen would probably be using for a few more items today or in the general future.

The old man slightly sighed and nodded his head as he followed Hephaestus for now. He was right, there was no need to worry about that now. He knew that he didn’t have to worry, simply because he knew how the system of ’Divine Promises’, which the Fate-Contract Komer was capable of forming was as well, worked in this world.

He knew that there was literally no power in this world or the other world was capable of breaking apart the Verbal Contract that Eisen formed with Samuel.

The old man took a step toward Hephaestus, who was still looking over the different materials that they all had, and was trying to think of a good item that they could make use of during the fight on the island of war that they were soon to approach.

But actually, Eisen had something else that he had to take care of for now as well. Just making these ’Living Ego Items’ with Hephaestus wasn’t the best idea, considering that they still needed plenty of regular items on top of that.

Things like potions, arrows, throwing-knives, replacement armor, such things. Of course, they already had plenty of those laying around all over the dungeon, but it was still better to have more of them. Especially if the ones that they had too many of could be used as individual forces as well, with the help of Jyuuk’s undead-creation abilities, with which he would turn regular items into haunted items.

And so, the old man chose to give a bit more of his attention to his other tool for now, his Demonic Multitool. Although, as it was constantly watching Eisen work with Hephaestus over the past little while, it seemed like it was actually a little bit... angry. At the very least, it seemed to be actively working against what Eisen wanted to do, so that’s what he figured was going on. Nothing else really made sense, after all.

With a deep sigh, Eisen looked down at the pure-white tool in his hand. And Eisen wasn’t exactly sure how he should fix this, since he didn’t even know whether or not the multitool was capable of actively understanding Eisen’s words, or if it just understood Eisen’s emotions and actions. At the very least, Eisen knew that it was able to understand those kinds of things, these more basic ’concepts’.

It would be bothersome if the old man really had to spend a long time trying to convince the ego-multitool that he still wanted to use it. Either way, it really seemed like this multitool had developed quite a personality... an incredibly jealous personality.

"What’re you doing?" Hephaestus asked with a groan, seeing that the multitool was literally pulling Eisen’s hand away from the materials he wanted to work with, "Yeah, you! The hell do you think you are! Be happy that he’s using you at all! But you can’t make living ego-items-" Hephaestus somewhat started to speak to himself, although it did seem like Eisen’s multitool was being a little less physically active right now.

"Don’t fuckin’ talk to me like that, you brat!" He yelled out in the end, "You know what, I fucking tried, but let’s do it another way..." Hephaestus groaned, and Eisen looked at the ego-item that was currently approaching him with a confused expression.

"Hephaestus, did you just speak with my Multitool?" Eisen asked, and Hephaestus lightly glared at him, "Yeah, you got an issue with that? I can converse with ego-items, so what? Most of’em are too dumb to actually respond, so good job raisin’ this one to be such a blabbermouth..." While he was speaking, Hephaestus basically pulled the multitool out of Eisen’s hands and held it in his own, although it seemed like it didn’t particularly like that, swinging and flailing around wildly as if trying to desperately escape.

"Rank 6, eh..? Well, good enough, you’re strong-willed, so it should be fine.... although, you’re strong-willed in the worst way... So maybe it wouldn’t be too bad if it failed." Hephaestus groaned a bit as he held the ego-item in his hand, before the multitool was enveloped in a bright white light. It was exactly like a monster’s evolution.

While being enveloped in that light, it seemed like bulges and random growth seemed to appear on the multitool’s body as it increased in size, until Hephaestus placed it down onto the ground, "Huh, it’s really a bit of a brat, isn’t it?" He whispered slightly surprised, as the mass of metal stopped growing and simply started changing its shape a bit more.

Within a few moments, it took on a shape that Eisen didn’t expect. It was a completely androgynous humanoid form. It was pure-white from top to bottom. It seemed to be roughly like a 15 years-old, judging from the physical maturity. It had ridiculously long white hair reaching up to its thighs, while it slightly glittered with a metallic shine.

"Hephaestus... Did you just turn my Multitool humanoid?" The old man asked, and Hephaestus turned toward the old man with his arms crossed, "Yeah, I did. It was acting annoying and bratty, so I didn’t wanna deal with it anymore. So, now you can speak to it and fucking convince it to shut the fuck up already." Hephaestus groaned before turning back around, although Eisen swiftly stopped him before he was actually able to leave.

"That’s not what I was asking about. It was more like ’How did you turn my multitool humanoid?’." The old man pointed out, and Hephaestus slowly realized what was going on.

"Ah... right. Well, I have this ability called ’Life Giver’. Whenever I make an item or am used for making an item, the ability activates automatically and creates, well, things like that." Hephaestus said, pointing over toward the Apex Ape that was created froom the Warhammer, "But, I can also activate that ability on other items as long as they have a soul in them. Well, it’s a lot more unstable then, and most of the time the item shatters into pieces, crumbles to dust, or the soul is ripped apart in the process, or all of that, but when there’s an item with a strong ego like this one it works out most of the time. So, there you go, now you have another Living Ego-Tool like me. Ah, just that you’ll need to make new tools now, ’cause you’re not gonna be able to use that one any-"

"...hate this body..." The multitool quickly interrupted Hephaestus, looking down at its humanoid form while nearly stumbling over, "I hate it, I hate it, I hate it!" It exclaimed over and over again, before Hephaestus just stared at it with a wry smile, "Yo, calm the fuck down, it’s not that big a deal, now is i-"

But this time, before Hephaestus could continue to speak, he watched while the Multitool simply transformed back into its multitool form, the base form of a pure-white hammer.

"...Say what now? I-It has the ability to transform, huh..?" The ego-tool muttered, "J-Just as planned..."
