Spending My Retirement In A Game

Chapter 573 Tamed Golems Soul Core

The old man jumped into the opening and shrunk down, reaching the outside before the hole closed down due to the ego-mansion healing, or rather repairing, itself. Eisen quickly made his way through the hallway inside of this place and soon reached the soul-core, where Xenia and Morrom were already starting their work.

The soul-core was just floating there right in front of Eisen, a large sphere made of stone-bricks just smashed together. Right now, what Xenia and Morrom were doing was just smooth the surface down, so Eisen quickly assisted them.

"I’ll take care of the 3D enchantment starting from the center, you two take care of the outside first." The old man suggested, and both of the others quickly agreed to that suggestion. Once they smoothed the surface of the large, five meter large sphere down, Eisen got started, just like he said he would. He pushed parts to the side, compressed some and decompressed others, all the whilst trying to create an enchantment that was really as complex and efficient as possible.

Soon, Xenia and Morrom got to helping him out with forming the 3D enchantment, and Eisen turned around toward Jyuuk, who was assisting in fighting off some of the ego-items that wanted to enter the room to stop the three from whatever they were trying to do.

Eisen quickly infused a large clump of different gems with Jyuuk’s taming skill, and once the 3D enchantment was finished, the old man fused the rock making up the soul-core with these gems. Eisen added more and more gems to the whole mix while slowly trying to split the rock parts off of it. More and more, the soul-core was being replaced by this special mixture of crystals and gems specifically made for this purpose.

All these enchantments were made for that as well, just to support this process and practically stabilizing the soul-core inside of the rock to make sure it could be properly switched out. Soon, instead of the five-meter tall rock sphere, there was just a one meter tall crystal sphere floating in front of the group, because hte group managed to properly compress it now that they had slightly higher control over the soul core and could make sure that they weren’t damaging it. Eisen tried to directly fuse the soul core with this crystal, instead of just having it be something like a container, and then the group removed all the enchantments that were still on the crystal sphere.

Next, Eisen pushed his mana into the crystal sphere and spread it around, before pulling it all out again. And then, the old man started with the magic inscription.

Eisen hadn’t tried using magic inscription on things like soul stones or souls in general before, so he was trying to be as careful as he possibly could be. In front of him, after he pulled the mana out and properly activated the magic inscription process, Eisen was rather surprised to just see the current whole body of the ego-mansion and its current movements.

With a bit of curiosity at what would happen, Eisen tried to manipulate the mana that was currently making up this representation of the ego-mansion. It seemed to be actively working against Eisen, but nonetheless, he was already able to take full control of it just like this. He managed to stop its four arms from moving and basically put it into a stasis-like state where it was completely unable to move.

Satisfied that they were now able to work without the very room constantly shaking around, the old man continued. The ego-mansion’s form wasn’t that important just yet, they would take care of that later. Rather, while Xenia and Morrom were once more carving into the crystal sphere and carving the things they needed for Eisen to turn it into an ego-golem core later, the old man supported exactly what they were doing.

There were bits and pieces floating around in front of Eisen that seemed to be part of Jyuuk’s taming skill instead of the soul. They were shapes like threads, and there was actually a rather large amount of them. The old man took those threads and used them to create a sphere right around the ego-mansion’s mana-representation, as if encapsuling and with that, trapping it. Eisen described what exactly was going on after that by writing it into the mana, properly combining the effect of the taming with the soul. Eisen finished it up for now and then pushed the mana back into the new soul core, before properly acknowledging it as a finished item. And before the old man knew it, a notification appeared in front of him.

Eisen looked at the screen with satisfaction before waving it away. Luckily, since it was his own item, he was capable of ignoring the requirements, or else this would all be a little bit bothersome if they weren’t even capable of controlling this huge ego-mansion.

Either way, now that this was all set up and Eisen took control of this big ego-mansion, the old man pulled the mana out of the soul core again.

For now, he blended the taming-threads out so that he could take a proper look at the soul. Eisen opened up a straight path between where everyone was and the outside in the ego-mansion’s body, even creating a small bridge that they could take to reach Askr’s body. It would be a bit dangerous and risky to do this with other people around.

The old man looked at the mana-form of the ego-mansion and blended it out as well. For now, Eisen just wanted to take a proper look at the actual part of the soul. With a slight, careful whisper, Eisen tried to make use of his title that supported his contact and conversation with souls, and slowly extended his hand toward it.

"Reveal to me what you used to be." The old man muttered quietly, trying to figure out if he could somehow support this process. He wanted to convince the soul to do as he said no matter what, which rather luckily seemed to have worked out pretty well.

Eisen managed to look into the soul by combining soul engineering and magic inscription, and soon discovered the figure that the soul had before it was taken from a living being. As Eisen already expected, it was a humanoid creature. It seemed to have been a sort of Devil-type monster. Slowly, Eisen took control over the soul-mansion’s form and made it to be the same shape as the body that he just saw from that Devil creature.

For the most part, it seemed to be mostly similar to a Goblin, with three main exceptions. One, it had a singular small growth on its forehead that resembled something like a horn. But it wasn’t a unicorn’s horn, but rather curved back over the Devil’s head. Besides that, it had a thin tail sprouting from the bottom of its back. And then, it had two pairs of arms, so in total four, just like this ego-mansion did.

These Devils were probably a sort of creature that were capable crafters or tinkerers, at least that’s what Eisen figured from its thin, human-like hands. Most other humanoid monsters still had things like claws, the only ones that Eisen saw with regular hands were the kind that were highly-evolved to resemble humans to a high degree, or those that were crafting-variant monster races. It fit the island as well, so these were probably a monster that used to live in this town, and then whoever or whatever created all these ego-items took their souls for the ego-mansions.

It was a rather gruesome idea, but it seemed to make sense as far as Eisen was concerned.

Either way, the old man simply started to create a proper body for the ego-mansion. He split its body off the ground and gave it legs, shrinking down the size of everything else that was priorly exposed above the ground to make the proportions right and exactly like that of this Devil that he saw inside of the soul. Then he returned everything to normal after adding a little bit more descriptions into the mana to make sure that the soul core could properly control its body like it was still its own, and to maybe pull a little bit of its former ’ego’ out, to make it more alive and easier for it to actually think about commands and act with an initiative.

After Eisen was done with that, he made his way outside of the new ego-mansion as well, just watching satisfied as he looked at the figure of this giant structure the same size as Askr in the form of a four-armed Devil stnading right in front of them.

It was a rather satisfying sight, as Eisen was pretty glad that everything seemed to work out well. Like this, the fights against the other ego-houses would just become easier and easier. The more of these ego-mansions they collected to fight for and with them, the more easily they could take over the next, as they would have more people to hold the mansion down. Not to mention that Xenia, Morrom and Eisen got a little bit of practice of creating this specific sort of item after a little while, so that process sped up a fair amount as well.

Soon, without a doubt, the group would be able to take on the giant ego-castle in the center of the town without any worries. It would be pretty interesting if they were capable of taking that over as well, although Eisen wasn’t entirely sure about that. It would be pretty nice if Eisen could take a giant being that was even larger than Askr with him to the Giant country. Although that was just an empty hope. After all, he realistically didn’t have any way of transporting the ego-castle.
