Chapter 232 Inspiration
Seris took a short while to think about that. Since they have been relying too much on Aion during the missions, she felt the need to work harder before the next one in order to make sure that things would be different this time.
"Besides, for as long I am here, the mission will end well," Aion declared. "Even without your knowledge, I can solve most problems with my magic. So, you can rest easy."
"... I wonder why such reliable words piss me off so much," Seris said.
"It must be because you are weird, not because I am choosing the right words to annoy you," Aion said while shrugging.
"So, you are aware of it," Seris said.
"All the time," Aion said while smiling. "Putting that aside, you shouldn\'t think too much about the next mission. You will get exhausted again, and that will only put you in an endless loop."
"Taking life advice from someone ten years younger than me… where did I go wrong with my life?" Seris asked after a long sigh.
That wasn\'t something Aion could answer, so he just watched her walk away. Regardless, the next weeks passed without any issues happening. That was worrying since it made Aion feel like all the problems were going to emerge once they reached their next destination. However, the real reason was that Sauros avoided the monster\'s areas and the routes used by monsters. He certainly knew his way in the sea…
"You are pretty good at holding back. I thought that you would kick my ass during the training sessions," Sauros said.
Aion\'s parameters improved in the next few weeks, but he still had to use Inner Release pretty often to keep up. As expected, he truly needed to fight monsters to level up properly. He couldn\'t complain that he didn\'t have the chance to fight and level up the class. That would be way too suspicious.
Still, thanks to that, Aion had a flash of inspiration while he was training. Until now, he failed to make Force Release show its true potential by storing more energy than usual. At first, he assumed that it wouldn\'t work to have three cores of energy in his body, but it felt like it was the best option… while they could work together when they were being burned, they couldn\'t mix well due to their natures.
Aion didn\'t manage to find a way to do that all at once, so he decided to take steps. Since he had a massive mana pool in the necromancer class, he didn\'t have a hard time making a mana core. Still, he had to make one where it wouldn\'t disrupt the others. Aion checked if he could accumulate mana in his brain, and he found that it was even easier to control it there, and since it didn\'t have a physical form, it didn\'t affect him in any way.
"I wonder if it will materialize once the mana grows too large… this is worrying," Aion thought. "Being killed by my own mana… that would be rather stupid."
Considering that some monsters had magic stones in their bodies, Aion assumed that a mutation could occur and then he would create one as well, but since he didn\'t hear anything about a mutation killing people. It originally only happened to make them surpass their limits, after all.
Regardless, the core in his head had been a success, but just to be safe, he decided to put it in the right side of his chest… Aion was that much of a worrywart. While the core was there and Aion was making it obtain mana over time, he tried to create the next one. He tried to control his stamina inside his body, but that was rather difficult. Still, considering that he managed to control his mana better on his brain, Aion knew that he could find the right spot for his stamina, and he found that spot on the diaphragm.
"It is coming very slowly… it must be because I don\'t train that much my use of stamina," Aion thought. "Well, this is the progress that I was looking for, so I can\'t complain."
By saving stamina, Aion would be able to fight with melee weapons for a long and even make his attacks stronger. However, it had a downside as well. It made him tired more easily when he unleashed all the energy stored. In fact, it made him feel two times heavier even when he didn\'t suffer any damage. That kind of effect happened during Inner Force, but it was a lot weaker…
Aion had a hard time controlling his health… The reason for that was the second effect that such a core would have. It would make him heal faster by himself. However, to store his health, he would need to essentially force his organs to save the energy and get hurt from inside… that wasn\'t something that Aion could do with willpower or even magic. That was another level of control he would have over his own body.
"I guess the final part will take a while…" Aion rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "It isn\'t like I can just use healing magic and use that to store health."
Before Aion could get anywhere close to dealing with that, he noticed that the temperature was decreasing. It seemed that they were getting closer to their destination…
"We will arrive there in three days," Sauros said when Aion approached in the deck. "We will face some harsh weather and some icebergs along the way instead of monsters, so brace yourself."
"Icebergs… you never mentioned that the place we were going would be that cold," Aion said. "I thought that dungeons and labyrinths tend to draw nutrients and mana from their surroundings to get stronger and larger."
"That is true, but it doesn\'t mean that every single place will become desert," Sauros said. "That is why that country is the only one that has snow in this part of the world."
