Chapter 30 Blame
Aion didn\'t know how to control horses while mounting or when driving a carriage. Still, he managed to make them slow down after pulling their reins. Eventually, they stopped, and he sighed in relief. When he turned around, he saw that a large number of people were around to see what had happened… the driver escaped, but at least they could question the other kid that Aion defeated.
However, much to his surprise, a dark-haired and light-armored man that had two swords on his waist approached the carriage while dragging the driver by the neck. He wasn\'t that well-built, but he sure had a powerful aura. He had a scar in the shape of a line on his nose that made him look quite fearsome. Aion couldn\'t help but raise his guard when the guy looked at him. His aura only got more intense when he saw Aion\'s eyes.
"How is your brother, kid?" The man asked.
"I think he was drugged… his pulse is normal," Aion replied after he checked it.
"You did a good job, kid… you probably will have to give some explanations, but you can rest assured that this is over," The man said.
Aion was holding his training sword tightly, but he only relaxed his grip for a short bit. After a while, his brothers arrived and sighed in relief when they saw that Aion and George were fine.
In the end, Aion had to explain to a shit ton of guards and that man that captured the driver what had happened. As it turned out, he was the guild master of the capital, and his name was Jagger. Regardless, one didn\'t have to be a genius to know what had happened… some suspicious individuals realized who Aion, Georges, and Elio were one week ago, and upon noticing that they wanted to return one week later, they prepared that trap to capture one of them… the only thing Aion didn\'t know was why the target was Georges. Henri was supposed to be the most important in terms of status alone since he was the heir of the family.
Things got really complicated when the mothers of the boys arrived in the guild… naturally, Artemisia didn\'t come. She probably wasn\'t even informed of what happened. In any case, Aion felt like sighing… bowing down his head, and apologizing to the people that hated him sure was something he didn\'t want to experience often.
"Where is he? How is Georges?" Georges\' mother asked.
Georges\' mother was a relatively short woman who also had short dark hair called Leticia, she wasn\'t even in her thirties yet, but she sure looked a bit older due to the news of what happened.
"He is sleeping now, Ma\'am," Jagger said. "The healers nullified the drugs in his system. He is completely fine and will wake up in a couple of hours."
"This incident was all my fault. I will accept any punishment for it," Aion said with his head down.
He could feel the cold stares of the mothers while they were checking the well-being of their sons, but soon they changed their expressions when their kids moved away. They also had a few things to say about that.
"No… the idea of the poster was mine… if it weren\'t for that…" Elio said.
"I was half a meter away from Georges when that happened, and I didn\'t notice until Aion began to move. This is my fault. I am the eldest, and I…" Henri said.
"So was I…" Philip said.
The atmosphere got a bit complicated, and it got hard to punish anyone for that. So, the mothers didn\'t know how to react. Fortunately, Georges woke up, and then things got more lively. He was pretty confused and didn\'t remember anything from the moment he entered the guild. His mother decided to take him home and reveal everything later.
"Where are the criminals?" Henri\'s mother asked. "I want to know who hired them as soon as possible."
Henri\'s mother was called Senna, a woman who had an insanely long light brown hair and eyes that were almost red. She looked like the type who masochists would really like to be looked down on her. Aion wasn\'t sure if he should think like that regarding the mother of his eldest brother…
"They are being interrogated, ma\'am," Jagger said. "Things ended without your kids suffering much damage, but I am also to blame for this incident. To think that kind of people would be able to enter our guild… I will personally interrogate them, and once I get some answers, I will report them to you directly. Still, that kind of low life doesn\'t budge in easily, so I recommend you all go home for the day."
"Very well," Senna said.
Aion wished that he had the right to rush home instead of going with all the others. He wished for that even more since an uncomfortable silence lasted for the entire trip. Still, it was better than being looked down with eyes full of disgust. In any case, things improved when Aion got home. His mother was worried sick since she noticed that the other mothers had left the house…
In the end, Aion was scolded a little by his mother, but then she praised him for rescuing his brother. Unfortunately, she looked troubled when she heard about his magic… there was no point in hiding that, and Aion already had an excuse, but it seemed that his mother was thinking about something else…
